About The Noob Chef
Hi there! I’m Lisa aka The Noob Chef and welcome to my blog!
This humble, little corner of the web is my place to cook, experiment and learn. As the name implies, I am just a home cook with an unquenchable thirst for culinary knowledge. But I wasn’t always like that.
2 years ago I was morbidly obese and was about to undergo bariatric weight loss surgery. My relationship with food was poor at best, and I knew nothing about eating fresh and clean. I was, in fact, “a noob”. Did I mention I’ve also been a video gamer for many years? If you’ve never heard the term “noob” before, it is a slang term (often used in the gaming world) for someone inexperienced. But back to cooking!
So I had my gastric bypass surgery. The weight peeled off and I became much happier with my body, but still I had no idea how to properly feed myself. With a new pouch that had its own demands I felt a little bit out of control. Over time I slowly began to figure out what I could, and definitely could not eat. I had to introduce myself to new flavors and textures. I had to learn to cook.
Cooking seemed daunting at first. And at times, it still does. By no means am I a professional chef. I don’t know how to do proper knife cuts (yet). I have never made pate a choux dough (though I certainly will get to it!). I’m just a simple girl learning to navigate her way around the kitchen. Here you’ll read about my desire to eat healthy, and my hope for a healthy and happy future. So, reader, thank you for being here. Thank you for taking the time to invest a few minutes in this Noob Chef. May you get lots of giggles as you read recipes, reviews, and videos that I post up. Have an awesome day and happy reading!
