My Raw Vegan Journey Day 2: Breaking the Addictions

Good Morning Beautiful Peeps!

Happy Wednesday! I hope you’re having a lovely day. Yesterday was day 2 of my raw vegan diet. What an experience it was. It’s incredible how addicting and destructive meat and dairy is. As described by Dr. Greger, meat and dairy are designed with additives that make us crave these destructive foods. We don’t need to eat meat. We don’t need to eat dairy, which is just a animal byproduct. In fact, it’s killing us. No, really. Dr. Fuhrman said it best when he said, “diabetes isn’t caused by sugar like the government makes us believe. Diabetes stems from the body’s inability to process sugar. And the reason it can’t process sugar is because those cells are caked in fat from eating a heavy meat and dairy diet!”.


These industries make us crave gooey cheese. They make us yearn for sizzling bacon or steak. Why do they put chemicals in the food to make us hooked? Because it’s profit. Then we gain weight, and subsequently become ill. Think about it this way: hospitals are designed to treat sick people, not help prevent people from getting sick. But I digress.


Yesterday I had a headache. As my body slowly weans off these toxins, I flooded my body with fruit, vegetables, and almost a gallon of water. It felt really good and soon my headache was gone. Weight loss wise, I couldn’t be happier. For the first time (ever) I’m actually losing 1 pound a day. Slow and steady wins the race.

Getting those 5 miles in daily! Woohoo!

But I think the most noticeable difference is my energy levels. I just don’t run out of energy! Are my muscles sore from doing another 5 miles yesterday? Oh you better believe it! πŸ™‚ But, I don’t feel flat exhausted. It’s a good soreness. One that I know is helping to build muscle…. and that’s pretty awesome. Mr. Noob Chef has also seen some noticeable differences having lost almost 5 lbs. He went down one belt hook. His energy and focus is way up. He isn’t snoring at night anymore and is resting much more deeply. He completely stopped drinking soda and is now experimenting with fruit + water combinations in his thermos for work. It’s pretty awesome.

Last night we were craving something warm for dinner. Not wanting to set us back in our raw vegan lifestyle change I baked a small bunch of pan de sal. It hit the spot, wasn’t heavy, was still vegan, and was hot right out of the oven. We still lost weight! So, it’s onward and upward from here! πŸ™‚ Have a beautiful day everyone and as always, keep on cooking!
