Cooking With Kids: Cinnamon Swirl French Toast [RECIPE]

How are you doing today? I hope you’re well. Today’s recipe is sure to make you swoon. Who doesn’t love french toast, right? 🙂 I know I do. Now take cinnamon swirl bread and make that into a french toast…. are you salivating yet? This recipe is perfect to make with the kiddos because there are minimal ingredients, and kids will have fun dipping the bread into the egg before they pop it into a skillet. If your children are really little you might need to help with flipping the bread over while it cooks. I also gave my daughter latex kitchen gloves to wear so she could dip the bread and not get her hands “icky”. She really enjoyed making this recipe.
Admittedly, when she first put the bread in the pan and heard it sizzle she felt a bit timid. “Don’t be scared of the stove” I said, standing right next to her. It was the perfect moment to teach her to control the stove… control the fire… and learn to work with the sounds of cooking to make something delicious. She inched over and I guided her hand with the spatula to flip it over to the other side. As she began getting more comfortable and relaxed, I saw her lips curl up into a tiny grin. “See?” I beamed, “that’s not so bad, now is it?”. She felt proud for helping cook dinner last night.

Cinnamon Swirl French Toast
- 1/2 cup milk
- 4 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 8 slices cinnamon swirl bread (we used Cinnabon’s loaf)
- 3 tablespoons butter
- Any extra topping you’d like 🙂
Gather your ingredients.
Crack the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract in a mixing dish. Whisk together.
Add the butter to a skillet and bring to medium-high heat. Dip the bread on both sides into the egg wash and place in the pan. Cook evenly until brown on both sides. (About 2-3 minutes). Repeat until all the slices are cooked.
Top with your favorite toppings and eat hot. Enjoy! 🙂
