Hawaiian Adventures Day 7: Loco Moco and Ulalena
Good Morning Everyone!
This is a fast post as I am catching up on our travel adventures. On Tuesday we went to see the Ulalena show here in Maui. What an incredible show it was. Before the show we grabbed a bite out all together as a family at Aloha Mixed Plate in Lahaina. It was stunning. We sat outside right on the water. Mr. Noob Chef and I were both squirming in our seats ready to taste Loco Moco… an authentic Hawaiian dish similar to Jollibee Burger Steak. To make Loco Moco you need the following components:
- 2 burger patties
- sauteed onions
- 2 fried eggs
- brown gravy
- diced green onions
My friends, it was sizzling…. it was plentiful…. and it was fantastic!!
We also got the Saimen Deluxe…. which is very similar to pho. It was heavenly and I happily slurped the bowl to the very last drop….
And the Noob Chef Junior was eagerly eating a plate of Beef Chow Funn….
With happy, full bellies we marched off to see Ulalena at the Maui Theater. This production tells the tale of the Hawaiian people and how they came to inhabit the islands. There was amazing percussion, dance, and props that brought the audience into the show. The dancers waved around long, silk ribbons, and fish props and carried them over the crowd to make us feel even more immersed into the story.
With sleepy smiles on our faces we crashed early to bed, because the following day was our day upcountry! Stay tuned for more Hawaiian Adventures everyone! I hope you have a fantastic day, and as always, keep on cooking! ❤
