Budget-Friendly Homemade Hummus [RECIPE]
Good Morning Everyone!
How are you today? I hope you’re doing well. Today I want to share a quick recipe with you that I’ve been meaning to make… but have been too lazy to do. (Okay, maybe I was a wee bit terrified too). Hummus! I know, everyone has probably made this before. And yes, it is super easy… but I was admittedly shaking in my boots a bit when I made it my mission to whip this up on Friday.
There are 4 basic components in hummus:
- Tahini (ground sesame seed sauce)
- Canned chickpeas
- Ground cumin
- Olive oil
That’s it. Everything else is just “extras” that add for seasoning and flavor. But if you have those 4 ingredients, you can easily whip up hummus any time the mood strikes. I was so happy with this simple recipe that I’m already making another batch today to dip some veggies into! Yum! Make sure to use a food processor, (or get a great arm workout), to make sure the chickpeas are super mashed through and are smooth. I hope you enjoy this budget-friendly recipe everyone and as always, keep on cooking! ❤
Serves: 2 (this makes about 1/2 cup; double ingredients if needed)
- 1 can of chickpeas
- 2 tbsp. olive oil
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- 1/4 cup tahini
- 1 clove garlic
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. ground cumin
- Drain the chickpeas and put into a food processor. Add everything else and puree until smooth and creamy. (Add an extra tablespoon of olive oil if need be).
- Place into a Tupperware and chill until you’re ready to serve. Enjoy!
